Everyday Table

This is a poem written for the Midweek Motif on Poets United on “Everyday Living.”

I associate sitting down to a family dinner with everyday life.

A simple dinner
cutting my meat
with a fork
because
I’m too lazy
to clean a knife
talking
about the facade
of the day
so I leave
the house
to look at stars.
