Adapted

Should the twisted tree
be chopped down
to the ground
and the stump
removed
because as a sapling
it followed
a river of light
that curved
around larger trunks
and spliced
clusters of leaves?

    I admire trees the most who have found a way to live that adapts to their surroundings. Cool topic for a poem. Cool question.

    I often wonder whether trees in plantations dream of escaping or are content that their offspring will escape one day.
